present continuous and present simple

We use present continuous only with actions like( running-walking-sweeping- eating- raining)but some verbs like( know-need-want-believe-remember-understand)are not actions so we must not use present continuous. we use present simple.so we can`t say I am knowing( this is wrong) we should say I know

SEE-HEAR_SMELL_ TASTE_SEEM (we use present simple (not present continuous)with these verbs)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Past simple tense
we use this tense to express actions that happened in the past
I travelled to London last week./ we watched a nice film on Tv 3days ago.
We also use this tense in telling stories to describe what happened in the past.
we use the second conjugation of the verb

I saw suesy last night. She wrote the report.

In questions we use did( when did u meet your friend?) (How did you go to work yesterday?)
In negative we use didn`t( Ididn`t see my dad last Friday.)
